Thread Count
First, a basic definition: thread count is the number of threads woven into one square inch of fabric.
Thread count has become a popular buzz-word over the years, but very few people know that there are other more important components that make a sheet luxurious and long-lasting, and that the thread count is really just a personal preference.
What Makes a Quality Sheet
Thread count is important, but is not the whole story. The quality and length of the original thread are equally important. The beauty of bamboo sheets is that the quality of the original thread has an intrinsically long staple length. Bamboo is such a strong and durable, yet soft fabric, makes it ideal for bed sheets. Bamboo sheets typically have a thread count somewhere between 250 and 400. Though this may sound lower than some cotton options, bamboo is naturally soft. A 100% bamboo sheet with a 250 thread count may feel just as soft as a cotton sheet with a 400 thread count while giving a silky smooth touch which makes for a luxurious sleep.
Beyond Thread Count
The weave of a fabric ultimately affects how it looks and feels. While bamboo fiber can be made with both sateen and twill weaves, they are distinctively different in texture.

Sateen Weave
All Zain Living sheets are made with a Sateen weave structure (three-over, one-under) to produce smooth, lustrous, higher thread count bedding with a thick, close texture. The larger thread surface exposed by the three-over, one-under weave, is what gives sateen its signature silky-soft feel and the luminous sheen. This weave makes our sheets as soft as silk but costs significantly less than silk. Sateen fabrics take longer to produce than a twill weave, therefore they tend to be pricier than a twill weave.
Twill Weave
A Twill weave structure is woven in a basic criss cross weave (one-over, one-under) which gives it a diagonal rib or twill line look, it is a lot like the weave on a pair of jeans – it is tight, short and very fine. Bamboo twill is not as soft as bamboo sateen but still significantly softer than cotton or bamboo cotton blend sheets.
